Emberly har nu været i Danmark i en måneds tid, og det er derfor blevet tid til en lille status på opholdet i Aalborg og AaB.

So far, I am enjoying my time in Denmark. The culture and city is quite a bit different than what I am used to in Vegas, but it has been a positive adjustment so far. Everyone at AaB has been very welcoming and has done their best to be inclusive of all of the foreign players. The squad is quick to translate what the staff says for us.

The backline and goalkeeper crew have also been great with teaching me the lingo and directional verbiage preferred here in Denmark, as well as teaching me some of it in Danish. Most of my time training is spent with the goalkeeping staff, and it has been quality each session. It is a bit of a different style of goalkeeping than I am used to, but Oliver has been great at teaching me new ways of approaching things while also allowing me to continue utilizing my current techniques that already work for me. The goalkeeper group has been great at communicating what has been working and what doesn’t, so each session is better than the last.

I think the first training match was a bit frantic. As a new squad, I think everyone is still trying to adjust to the way the people around them are playing, and the first match was indicative of still trying to find that chemistry. It was a bit shaky, but we found better footing in yesterday’s match and could tell that the squad is more comfortable with each other. I felt a better energy going into the match, and if we continue building on that energy & chemistry, stay focused & committed, and play to each other’s strengths, the squad has the ability to be very successful in the league.

As for the first match of the season, I am very much looking forward to it especially after our friendly match yesterday. As I said, I think we have a good energy coming into the match. It is important that the spirits stay high and the winning & growth mentality continues. It’s our first match as a new team, and the first match in the Kvindeliga for some of us, so I know the excitement is there!
